On the artificially-iced track in Winterberg, he defeats 2 times World champion David Möller (0.219 seconds behind) who took 2nd place. Germany’s young luger talent Julian von Schleinitz made an impressive debut at his first competition in the World Cup. The two-time junior World champion finished on the third place, just 0.279 seconds behind Zöggeler and thus made it onto the podium at his very first go. 04.29 FINAL RESULTS 04.38 PODIUM + OVERALL STANDINGS Armin Zöggeler and David Möller are jointly leading the overall rankings after 2 of the altogether 8 events. Both have 170 points to their credit. Germany’s Olympic champion Felix Loch, fourth in Winterberg, collected 160 points so far and thus holds third position on the overall rankings. CALGARY 05.01 WIDE SHOT 05.05 END OF VIKTOR KNEYB'S 2nd RUN On the track of the 1988 Olympic Games, Armin Zöggeler defeats Russia’s Viktor Kneyb (0.261 seconds behind) who finished in second place. This is the best career result for the 30-year old luger from Russia who achieved a third position in Innsbruck-Igls in the Olympic season. Germany’s Olympic champion Felix Loch (0.311 seconds behind) took third place. 05.11 HLTS 2nd RUN ZÖGGELER + SLOWMOS Nine years ago, Armin Zöggeler won the third of his altogether five World Championship titles in Calgary. Now the 36-year old luger from Italy celebrated his second season’s victory at the Canada Olympic Park – the third consecutive win in Calgary and the now 51st success of his career in the World Cup. 06.20 FINAL RESULTS + PODIUM PARAMONOVO 06.35 CLIP 06.52 WIDE SHOT OF THE TRACK + FANS This is a World debut in Paramonovo, Latvia. Similar to Sigulda, the start is located in a tower. The track comprises 19 curves and a maximum downhill grade of 15 percent. The competition lengths are 1,261m (women singles and doubles) and 1,410m (men singles). 07.01 SLOWMOS ZÖGGELER This is the 2nd time in the season where the Italian is not on the podium. If he would, he already has been crowned in Paramonovo. He will have to wait for the last event in Sigulda. 07.33 SLOWMOS FELIX LOCH Felix Loch, Olympic champion and the only man who could beat the italian luger. He finishes 2nd and could get the trophy after the last event. 08.01 HLTS 2nd RUN DEMCHENKO Cheered by numerous spectators, Albert Demchenko celebrated his first victory this season. The 39-year old Olympic silver medallist of the 2006 Winter Games in Torino defeated the two German lugers Felix Loch and Andi Langenhan to second and third place respectively. 08.42 WIDE SHOT SIGULDA 08.49 HLTS 2nd RUN ARMIN ZÖGGELER The Italian luger has added another success to his already long list of victories. At the final of the World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia, the record World champion (six titles) from Italy celebrated his 54th individual victory and secured his tenth overall World Cup. He is now tied with record-winner Markus Prock of Austria. 09.31 OVERALL RANKINGS Zoeggeler’s only serious contender at the season’s final, Olympic champion Felix Loch of Germany, had to make do with a 14th place in Sigulda. At the final of the World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia, the doubles’ celebrated their fifth victory this season. 06.04 SLOWMOS OBERSTOLZ/GRUBER + WENDL/ARLT However, the Austrian two-time Olympic champions stumbled at the World Cup events in Winterberg (20th position) and Oberhof (7th position). This is why the doubles’ failed to achieve their first overall Luge World Cup. 06.22 WORLD CUP RANKINGS + PODIUM Italy’s Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber achieved third place in the overall World Cup rankings with a total of 671 points to their credit, behind winners Wendl-Arlt (746) and Linger-Linger (692). RELAYS INNSBRÜCK-IGLS 06.39 WIDE SHOT + HLTS GERMAN RELAY Germany’s relay team has written a chapter of luge history: The quartet with Tatjana Huefner, Andi Langenhan and the doubles’ Tobias Arlt-Tobias Wendl won the first Team Relay event. In Innsbruck- Igls, team Canada once again lived up to its reputation as relay specialists – Alex Gough, Sam Edney and Tristan Walker-Justin Snith thus finished on second position ahead of the quartet from Italy . SIGULDA 07.42 SHOTS OF JACQUES ROGGE + SLOWMOS RUSSIA AND GERMANY Under the eyes of Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, the final in the Team Relay World Cup.
